Citrus Trees and Roof Rats
Roof rats are excellent climbers that love citrus fruit. They feed in trees at night, travel along fences and branches, and slip into attics through gaps near the roofline.
Signs include hollowed-out oranges or grapefruit still hanging on the tree, droppings in the garage, and scratching sounds overhead after dark.
Fruit trees also attract ants and wasps when fruit ripens or falls. Picking up dropped fruit and keeping the ground clean under trees helps reduce all three pests at once.
- Pick up fallen fruit regularly
- Trim branches away from the roof
- Store pet food and seed in sealed bins
- Call early if you hear noises in the attic
Crickets and the Scorpion Connection
Shaded, irrigated yards give crickets moisture and cover. Large cricket populations are a dinner bell for bark scorpions, which hunt them along walls and patios at night.
By reducing crickets, treating perimeter hiding spots, and sealing entry points, we help break that chain. Homes with heavy scorpion activity can also add our Black Light Scorpion Service.
Lighting matters here as well. Bright patio lights draw crickets from across the yard, so switching to warmer, dimmer bulbs reduces the cricket crowd and the scorpions that follow.
Local Care for Miralago Homes
Green Magic has been serving the East Valley and greater Phoenix since 2016. Our technicians are paid by the day, so they take the time to check trees, rooflines, and walls during each visit.
Bi-monthly full service begins starting at $45 a month for homes up to 2,500 square feet, with slightly higher pricing for larger homes and free re-treatments in between.
Same or next-day appointments are typical, so a rustle in the attic or a scorpion by the back door does not have to wait long for an answer.

How can I tell if roof rats are eating my citrus?
Look for fruit that has been hollowed out while still on the tree, often with just the peel left behind. Droppings nearby are another clue.
Can Miralago pest control help with scorpions too?
Yes. Our regular service targets scorpion hiding spots and reduces crickets, and our Black Light Scorpion Service adds nighttime removal for heavier activity.
Are your products safe around fruit trees?
Our eco-friendly products are applied carefully around the structure and pest routes. Let your technician know about fruit trees so treatment can be planned around them.
