Hillsides, Washes, and Open Space
Washes and undeveloped slopes act like highways for wildlife and pests. Packrats, scorpions, and spiders travel through them, and homes on the edge of these corridors are often the first stop when the weather turns hot or a storm rolls in.
Monsoon runoff can also flush insects out of washes. After a heavy storm, it is common to see crickets, beetles, and scorpions on the move in Club West.
Spiders and crickets are common along hillside walls too. Black widows like the dark gaps in block walls and rock retaining walls, and crickets cluster near any outdoor light left on after dusk.
Packrats Deserve Special Attention
Packrats, also called woodrats, are common in Ahwatukee's desert edges. They build bulky nests from sticks, cactus, and debris and are known for chewing through car wiring, irrigation tubing, and anything else in their path.
We inspect for nests, entry points, and signs of chewing around garages, sheds, and vehicles. Then we put a plan in place to address the activity and help keep them from coming back.
- Nest checks under shrubs and around sheds
- Garage and vehicle area inspections
- Entry point identification on the home
- Ongoing monitoring during bi-monthly visits
Unhurried Service on Every Visit
Our technicians earn a daily wage rather than per-job pay. That means they have the time to walk your property, check hillside-facing walls, and look for the small clues that point to a bigger problem.
Every plan includes free re-treatments if pests show up between scheduled visits, and you can usually get on the calendar the same day or the day after you call.

Learn moreFrequently asked questions
My car wiring was chewed. Could it be packrats?
It is very possible. Packrats are notorious for chewing wiring in parked vehicles, especially near open desert. Call us to inspect the garage and surrounding area.
Do scorpions come out of the washes after storms?
Storms can flush scorpions and the insects they eat out of low-lying areas. Activity often spikes after monsoon rain, which is a good time to make sure your perimeter is protected. Bi-monthly service keeps protection steady through storm season.
What does Club West pest control cost?
Our bi-monthly service starts at $45 per month for homes up to 2,500 square feet, and larger homes are slightly more. Pricing is published, so there are no surprises.
