Rock, Hillsides, and Spiders
Natural boulders and rock landscaping are everywhere in the foothills. Spiders and scorpions use the cracks and crevices as daytime shelter, then hunt along walls and patios at night.
Desert recluse spiders, black widows, and wolf spiders are all common in the Phoenix area. Most stay outside, but garages, closets, and storage rooms can attract them, especially when insects are plentiful.
Trailheads nearby bring foot traffic and dogs, but they also mean the natural desert runs right up to some backyards. Pests from that open land do not recognize property lines.
- Spiders in boulders, rock walls, and garages
- Scorpions under rock and along block walls
- Ants nesting beneath pavers and decorative stone
- Crickets near outdoor lights at night
Treating Hillside Homes
Homes built on slopes often have retaining walls, multi-level yards, and drainage features. Those spaces can trap moisture and debris, so your technician checks them carefully and treats where pests are traveling.
We also remove webs and egg sacs from eaves, light fixtures, and patio covers during each visit. Over time, steady treatment and web removal help bring spider numbers down.
Hillside drainage channels deserve a look as well. Leaves and gravel that settle in them create shaded pockets, and scorpions often use those channels to travel from the slope toward the house.

Are the spiders in my garage dangerous?
Most are not, but black widows and desert recluse spiders can deliver painful bites. If you are not sure what you are seeing, keep your distance and let us take care of it.
Why are ants coming from under my pavers?
Pavers and decorative stone hold warmth and moisture, making them a favorite nesting spot. We treat active colonies and the paths they use to reach your home.
How quickly can you get to my home?
Our standard is a visit the same day or the next. Call 480-999-5302 to schedule. Every plan includes free re-treatments if pests show up between visits.
