Water Features and Pest Pressure
Lakes and water hazards keep the surrounding ground moist and the air a little more humid. That supports insects like mosquitoes and midges, which in turn draw spiders that build webs around lights, eaves, and patio corners.
Roaches also appreciate damp conditions. They hide in irrigation boxes, drains, and thick landscaping near water, then find their way into homes through small gaps.
Oakwood Lakes course area pest control has to account for all of that. We focus on the moist, shaded parts of your property and the entry points pests use to get inside.
Ants are part of the picture too, since moist soil near the water makes it easy for colonies to grow under turf and pavers.
Birds and ducks that visit the lakes are a lovely part of the view, but spilled birdseed and bread left out for them can feed rodents and ants close to your patio. We will point out anything like that during your visit, along with any changes that could help between treatments.
Smart Steps for Lakeside Living
A few simple habits make our treatments even more effective. We will point out anything specific to your yard during each visit.
Your technician will also take a look at pool equipment, downspouts, and drip lines near the house, since small leaks keep soil damp and invite roaches and ants to stay.
- Dump water from saucers and buckets after watering
- Keep shrubs trimmed so air can move through them
- Use warm-colored bulbs on porch and patio lights
- Make sure door sweeps touch the threshold
