Why Termites Swarm After Rain
Warm, humid conditions after a storm signal mature termite colonies to release winged swarmers. These swarmers leave to start new colonies, and finding them inside your home means a colony is likely close.
Swarmers lose their wings quickly, so piles of tiny wings on windowsills or near doors are another common sign. They do not bite or damage anything themselves, but the colony they came from might.
An inspection helps confirm whether termites are reaching your home and where they are coming from.
Damp wood near the foundation, like fence posts or landscape timbers, makes swarmers even more likely to find a foothold.
Ants on the Move
Rain floods ant colonies, and they relocate fast. Many move under slabs, inside wall voids, or along baseboards, which is why ants seem to appear out of nowhere after a storm.
We treat colonies and trails outside and seal off indoor entry points. Regular bi-monthly visits help stop new colonies from settling against your foundation.
Crickets and scorpions also become more active after storms, so your perimeter service covers them as well.
Keeping food sealed and wiping counters after storms helps stop ants from settling indoors while the colony relocates.

Learn moreFrequently asked questions
Are flying termites the same as flying ants?
They look similar, but termites have straight antennae, a thick waist, and wings of equal length. Ants have bent antennae and pinched waists. If you are unsure, save a sample and we can identify it.
Should I spray swarmers myself?
Spraying swarmers kills a few but does nothing to the colony. An inspection is the better step. We can confirm where the swarmers are coming from and treat the source.
Is your service safe for pets?
Yes. Our products are pet friendly and safe once dry. Your technician will let you know when it is fine to let them back out.
