Block Walls and Mature Landscaping
Block walls are standard across Glendale, and over time they develop cracks, loose caps, and gaps at the base. Spiders and scorpions use those spaces to hide during the heat of the day. Black widows are especially fond of the shadowy area where walls meet the ground.
Mature shrubs and trees add shade and leaf litter, which keep things cool and damp. That draws insects, and insects draw the spiders and scorpions that eat them.
Paper wasps often build under eaves, patio covers, and the top edge of block walls, especially in spring and early summer.
Brandywine Pest Control That Covers Every Corner
We start by walking the full perimeter, including side yards and the back wall. Our technician treats wall bases and caps, rock and planting beds, eaves, garage edges, and entry points. We remove webs and wasp nests, and we treat for crickets and other insects to cut down the food supply.
For heavier scorpion activity, our Black Light Scorpion Service locates and removes scorpions after dark, when they glow under UV light.
Inside, we treat problem areas like garages, laundry rooms, and bathrooms when needed.

Where do black widows hide around block walls?
They usually build near the ground in dark gaps, at the base of walls, in irrigation boxes, and under stored items. Treating these spots helps reduce them. Wearing gloves while gardening or moving stored items is a smart habit.
Should I knock down a wasp nest myself?
It is safer not to. Wasps defend their nests, and some people react strongly to stings. We can remove nests and treat the area to discourage rebuilding.
Do scorpions climb block walls?
Yes. Bark scorpions are strong climbers and often hide in wall gaps and under caps. Wall treatment is a key part of our scorpion service. Weatherstripping on doors keeps them from following the wall right into the house.
