Citrus Trees and Roof Rats
Citrus trees are one of the joys of living in Gilbert, but ripe and fallen fruit are also a favorite food for roof rats. The dense canopy gives them shelter, and branches near the roof give them a bridge to the attic.
Higley Groves pest control includes checking for rodent signs around trees, garages, and rooflines. We look for droppings, gnaw marks, and hollowed-out fruit still hanging on the branch, which is a classic sign that rats are feeding.
Once we know where they are active, we set up control and point out the entry points that need to be sealed.
Older shade trees offer the same kind of cover, so we look at any canopy that hangs over the roof, not just the citrus.
- Hollowed-out citrus on the tree
- Droppings in the garage or attic
- Scratching sounds at night
- Gnaw marks on wiring or stored items
Ants and Termites in Irrigated Soil
Flood irrigation and drip systems keep soil moist, which supports ant colonies and subterranean termites. Ants follow water toward kitchens in summer, while termites travel quietly through soil toward the wood in your home.
We treat ant colonies and trails, and our termite inspections check slab edges, garage walls, and wood features for early signs of activity.
If we find termite activity, we lay out treatment options in plain terms and let you decide without any pressure.
Scorpions are also part of regular service here. Block walls and rock landscaping give them daytime shelter, so we treat along walls, the foundation, and every exterior door.
Our pet friendly products are safe for kids and pets once applied.
Higley Groves Pest Control With Green Magic
We are locally owned and based in nearby Chandler, and our technicians are paid by the day instead of per stop, so they take the time to look up into the trees as well as down at the foundation. Bi-monthly plans start starting at $45 a month for homes up to 2,500 square feet, and free re-treatments between visits are always included.

How can I keep rats out of my citrus?
Pick fruit as it ripens, collect fallen fruit often, and keep branches trimmed away from the roof and walls. Pair that with rodent control for the best results.
Do you inspect for termites?
Yes. We offer termite inspections and treatment for Gilbert homes and can schedule an inspection with your regular service.
Can someone check my trees this week?
Almost certainly. We usually reach Higley Groves the same day or the day after you call 480-999-5302.
